Sandie, Your family have been my neighbours for 26 years. When you moved in to care for Eve you were just Bob's mum, a face over the fence to say Hi to, dad would odd jobs for you and Simon is friends of Bob and Sarah. Then came the start of the lockdowns, you would be sat outside on the bench when I'd pop outside, we'd say our usual hello like neighbours do and then one day it all changed. I can't pinpoint when or how it happened but one day we said more than hi and started talking like old friends, we clicked from the start, you'd often say I was an old mind in a young head. We were just two lonely people in the middle of a pandemic in need of a friendly face and a chat. Nearly every day we would stand outside having a laugh, sometimes a cry, sharing advice, stories. The boys would love seeing you out there. You were a ray of sunshine in a cloudy couple of years for me. I want to say thank you for listening to me without judgement, telling it to me straight not mincing your words and helping me through some tough times without entitlement. I don't think you knew just how special you were and still are to me. Until we meet again, I will miss you xx "It takes a day to find a friend, a moment to lose them, and a lifetime to forget them"
